MTC has come through with their improved fibers kit for the R3 clutch. Here are photos courtesy of Scott (Warp9.9); MTC fibers on left, Triumph fibers on right.

Scott's busy installing these in his SC R3 right now... look for his ride report.

Now where the hell is the MTC billet clutch basket?!?

I did not know EBC made fibers for the R3 but then it does not surprise me either. I am working with MTC on this issue and billet clutch baskets also. I have a extra new style basket I am sending them so the can make drawings and compare to the old style basket which they have already reinforced for Brembo. I do believe with more fiber suface to grip with less slippage will occur whether you use a lock up or standard clutch. this could bridge the barrier between the stock and lock up styles. I do believe if you are drag racing a Rocket a lock up clutch is the best but maybe this will be a good compromise for the tripple filters and predator system with out have to go lock up. I am thinking that the HP produce by SC, and Turbo's might need more but until you try it, well its just pure speculation. I also believe slippage occurs more during dyno testing as the bike is strapped down on the dyno and not on the road as Hombre has told me dyno tuning is great but real world riding adjustments can improve the bikes ability's on the road. I might not have it the way Walt stated but I did get the jist of what he was trying to relay to me. To put it simple the bike does not get winched down to the road like on a dyno so the roads load cell is not as firm/demanding as the dyno's.
anyway we shall see how they perform under stress.:D

Ok I have a little more then 500 miles on the MTC clutch fibers and so far I am impressed with the performance. I have not gone much above 6000 rpms as I only have 1000 miles on the new pistons, but I have hit her hard at those rpms with no noticable slippage. I ran her at full roll on throttle to above 125 but no higher then 144 as of yet and she is performing fine. It looks like rain today so I am not sure I will be able to thrash her today. I find it is easier to pull the front up in 3rd but this is probably because I do not have the lock up in and I can use the clutch lever more.
All in all I think if it holds up to the Super charger it will be great on NA Rockets:D

You may not have had a chance to notice, but do these plates swell and cause you to creep at red lights or stop signs like the Barnett's do?

They probably do but without the lock up I have much more clutch head travel and therfore much more clearance between the disc. I do not know what material these are made of hell it could have kevlar in it and I am not aware I will ask Kevin but he might want to keep that quiet and I will respect his wishes.
I don't know if I am going to get to ride today as the rain won't go away. So I will re mount my Wego III as I picked up a mount at JC Whitney yesterday on my cruising trip. I also bought a gauge holder for my knock retard monitor on the Vampire unit maybe I can get to that also.

Just a little report I did place some stress on the MTC Clutch fibers yesterday on a Dyno Drag run I could not find a ¼ mile ETA thread Regs probably has one somewhere on this site so I thought I would revive this one for a clutch report.
I don't have Nev's cams yet or Carpenter's and I need the tranny upgrade as she pops out of second when you hit her hard. I put her on the dyno Drag to see How the A/F Mixture was at higher speeds. Of course like my Brother Perd's aka Joker I screw up some as I have never done this before. I also did it so I can get a base run but the guy said I have to hold the throttle wide open to get the higher horse power reading.
Anyway rev limiter at 6750 I never hit it so when I get the predators and some cams, pistons, and Carpenter Head work, along with an intercooler. I should be able to move the rev limiter to say 7500 or so.

I told him in the beginning I wasn't interested in drags just fuel mixture as it is hard to watch that stuff doing this on the road.
Anyway I left early and easy and then spooled her up just to see what she is capable of. The dude was supposed to let me go a 1/2 mile but I don't think he thought it was going to go this fast in the quarter and IMO she could have been strapped down a little. Anyway here’s the Ticket.
Big Brother you had better right some pointers down for me except the red light **** I understand that part.

Oh I do like thrashing around on the road instead of this short drag stuff.
Oh this was done on the Gieco lizard truck like you see in Daytona!

I'll have to see if Gus will do the upgrade or see what kind of deal I can get on the Kit then I can really lay into her. Maybe they will ignore the blower as they have installed on a R3
Oh Beastie loved eating the Fat Boy next to her as he was at 101mph.
Another thing I did not like is they make you pull in the clutch after the finish lights go off. I bet it’s not good on the lifter shaft
The MTC Clutch Fibers felt good but I bet I strained them some

Oh I almost forgot this is Wayne Tripps Tune from Power-Tripp Performance add in the red light time it’s not bad it’s still a pretty fun ride for just over 10 seconds next time maybe I will go WOT

I know everyone says what color is fastest mine changed to this color as it made its first pass thru a Trans Warp conduit the truth is it use the be Red and Black
I can't wait to get the tranny fixed and put some more HP in her to see what she is capable of.

A lot of people have helped me so far but I must admit Walt has helped mentor mine and Pedro, Wayne at Power Tripp performance, and of course Art who amazingly reminds me of my Dad Although Art is younger:D
Walt and Art together have been teaching me about Power placement putting it where you can actually can use it is better then just throwing it in!!!!!
I can not wait to see what she is like with a Carpenter head job, some forged pistons, some cams by Carpenter or Nev. And I need a inter cooler.
I will have a good winter project in the makings doing this and the Tranny upgrade unless Gus can help me with the upgrade. I think after doiing the pistons and liners when I roasted her in March I might be able to do the upgrade myself. Sure would be nice to get a break on the kit though.!!!!!!

Next week I should get my Predator pipes wished I had them for this run instead of the Tors!!!!!
