Motobatt to the rescue

The other day I upgraded my battery. I read the review that Tripps gathered (not power tripp). He had found where they did a torture test on batteries. The battery is a Motobatt, MBTX20U. It starts the bike at 30 degrees (F) with no problem. It is twice as good as the factory battery. Although my battery sat for a long time as I bought a leftover. Thanks again tripps for your help. Originally it was 16aH but I managed to knacker a cell - and a 7 cell battery aint gonna work.

As the 16aH it was 1120 CCA.

I have just returned my Motobat as faulty, fitted & charged but didn't start the bike once, keeps dragging the terminal voltage down to 10.5 V on starting which is well below the critical voltage when the ECU won't let it start. I do believe that I have just been unlucky but in desperation I had to go out & buy a new one on Sat. so ended up with a Yuasa which in fairness is doing the job. However at the dealers the other day & droning on about this I was told that they have had a lot of trouble with customers who have bought the Motobat's returning with problems & finding that they have swollen & they have struggled to gt them out of the battery housing. I hope you will be ok with yours & its just a bad batch at the factory. I may well chance another one in the future but at the moment I think I would bite the bullet & go for an Odysey, even at the high price.
 

just to let you know I bought the 680 from odyssey three years ago and it still work like a charm take a look at it .it fit the bike box minus the small ridges which I filed away in 5mn .I keep on a trickle charge all winter (6 months) and it fire up the beast without hesitation anytime i hit the button
 
Just done the same - except they only had the MBTX20UHD (the harley version - comes with the black case), guy reckoned it wouldn't need charging but thought I'd charge it up before I started the bike anyway - got a BMW trickle charger, normally it will charge a battery in around an hour. With the Motobatt the first red light was on for hours, the amber then stayed on for about 4 hours and with no sign of the green light coming on I decided to start it..... talk about turn over faster!!!
