mirrors are crap!

3rd time lucky perhaps, are the threads on the stem 10mm ??.
Mick, they have an internal thread(m6) which locates them against a shoulder, like the Bonnevilles. I assume you're thinking about an external m10 thread screwing into the switch housing?

Triumph uses these crappy inserts to lock the mirror arm into the switch housing, if you inadvertently rotate the arm while trying to adjust the mirror you will fubar this insert and need to replace it.

I have the expensive Triumph oval mirrors. They are great on my bike. Clear and crisp. Triumph use a proprietary mount. You have to buy an adapter to use "normal" mirror stems.

The Triumph ovals I have work great and have never vibrated. Seems to be more of a common problem with the tear drops.

Yes exactly mate, so "normal" type mirrors wont work then ?.

But as Bob R said, I could just swap out the mirrors themselves then and use the OEM
stem ?, are those 10mm do you know ?.

Mick, your bike is just outside. I doubt too many of us have dismantle a stock mirror lately to be able to answer your question. You can, by the way, get adapters that will allow you to fit whatever you want. Some aftermarket mirrors even come with them. Not sure why you seem so pissed with all of us, or Triumph for that matter. If you don't like something on the bike, change it (like the rest of us do).

Oops about above post and don't know how to remove it.

These are the kuryakyn mirrors I got for Christmas. I'm very happy with them.

Went with the rivco signal mirrors. Great view and bright lights. R3 sells the adapters for the standard mirror setups; around $30 I think, but didn't need them for the Rivcos as they came with them.

I put a couple of mirrors off a Yamaha HD clone on mine. I swapped the mirrors and stems out, and they fit straight on. I have no idea what he is using now.

Did you have any problems wiring them in. Just curious how you tied them into the electrical system.Did you use snap locks or solder them in.? I have a pair of those too, just waiting for the snow to melt before i hooking them up..
