Picric Acid is different beast to
aspirin (
acetylsalicylic acid), and will blow your head off rather than cure a headache.
Picric acid - Wikipedia
They do have a weird association though. It is apparently made from phenol too and in WW1 German efforts to control the availability of
phenol, the precursor to picric acid, emphasize its importance in
World War I as an explosive for ordinance. Supposedly Germans (in USA?) were reported to have bought US supplies of phenol and converted it to
acetylsalicylic acid, i.e.,
aspirin, to keep it from the Allies.
I suppose that was possible as the USA did not join the Allies until April 2, 1917. I wonder if they had declared war on April 1 whether no-one would have believed them
