Maintenance Expense..Big bucks!

I just brought my 07 Classic into my local Triumph dealer for the 10 K mile check and two new stock tires The work included all fluids changed (brakes, coolant and all oils + filter). Four valves were out of spec so the cam had to be accessed.
Washers and seals relaced. The cost, $1,691.04! Am I crazy or is this in line with expectations? Labor was $800.

so yah, 500 or so for the two tires, a 10k service can run you 400 but since you had two valves out of spec ( which is rare at 10K) then you add soem labor for that, if labor was 800 , then was it 100 an hour?

if you cant do a tire change and 10k service in less then 4 hrs... yeah I think its a little high, Scan the reciept and it should be broken out by details. ( shop labor, materials, disposal, environmental fees etc)


This is why my bike has never been worked on by a dealer.
 
Just had a 10K service and new front tyre on my R3T --- it came to £432 ($691) another dealer quoted £550 ($880)
so your $1691 (£ 1056) does sound a bit much even with the valves being done........ as others have said check the bill
 
Wow! Your dealer's mechanics must work really slow, zenbiker.

Even at, say, a $90/hr shop rate I can't fathom that work running more than about $1,100-1,200. Much of your scalping occurred in conjunction with the tire work, no doubt.:whistle:

I had two intake and one exhaust valve out when I had my 10K check done and the bill came to about $500. My ex-dealership is imcompetent, dishonest and owned by a slick willie, scumbag, by the way.
Triumph will soon be receiving a detailed letter from me about the nightmare experience I had with those modern-day horse thieves.
 
Triumph dealers in 2 states here in OZ, charges $100-110 per/hr labour plus parts.
 

Hmmm Phil 500 bucks to move your timing out three teeth robing horse power is not a very good deal. Wait till you get her back all pepped up
 
You got that right, Scott and to make matters worse they had three attempts (supposedly) to put the timing right. They lied to me, wasted my time (collectively, they had the bike for well over a month) and attempted to rip me off. It will be interesting to hear what Triumph USA will have to say about Trebour Motorcycles. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to those assnuts.

Oh yeah... I am a little bit excited to get a much healthier beast back from Carpenter Racing, hopefully, by the end of this week.
