..when i put 11 & 1/2" progressive shocks on the rear of my 06, I also loosened the triple tree and pushed the forks up to the notch on them..about 1/2"..

platform shoes ???

..let the forks come up to the stepped 'notch'...I left the side stand alone..just be mindful with it when ya park..

stay out of the rain and always dry you hair when you get it wet this will reduce shrinkage and save the need for platform shoes
