Ride
2013 rocket roadster 2012 v-rod
Just got back from 1900 mile trip in four corners area on a 2013 roadster with progressive lowering kit. Previous owner was of shorter stature and did mod. How much handling and clearance is given up? Felt like I was riding a hard tail, any adjustment in back, no number indicators on shock. Bike looks good with kit, but not sure ride trade off is worth it.

sorry, posted this thread under administrative by error earlier.

If you want to add some clearance add taller shocks and lower the forks in the triple clamp. If the ride is too harsh with the lower shocks the preload is probably set too soft. Run the preload to max and then see how it rides if you want to see the limit on the shocks. You should set your static sag to about 10mm and see if that adds some travel to the shocks so the ride is better.

Thanks for reply. The lowered progressives have no indicator on them so not sure how to set preload, I'll check their site. Still have original kit, may have them installed as I do a lot of two up riding. Haven't drug pegs yet but bumps are spine jarring.

The progressive uses a collar at the bottom. Likely it's all the way to lowest setting. Rotate the collar three clicks to the right, ride it and tell me how that feels.
