Hello I'm Jeremiah and looking at purchasing a R3 Roadster. My local Dealer has a 08 R3 with 9,300 miles for $8,500 but it isn't a roadster. Would that be a good deal? I currently ride a 72 HD Ironhead with a lot of stuff done (stroked, ported, cams, exhaust, ignition, carb ect.) that is plenty fast and powerful but I'm looking at getting into a modern comfortable bike that has gobs of HP and something I can tinker with. I love cruisers and want to get something that I can tinker with. I'm very familiar with ECU tuning as I've been tuning street/strip cars for years.

So is there any advise you all can give to help me be a better informed buyer? Would I be better off to look for a newer R3 that is a Roadster?

Welcome from Auss, not sure how that price is in the States but that would be an awesome bargain here in Auss, the difference between is more about ergonomics than any thing else I prefer the 08 riding position and have fitted the optional boards, you realy should take both for a test ride to see which fits you better

DOOOOO IIITT !!!

I waited around and "thought about it" and when i was done thinking,,all hell broke loose and i couldnt afford it....

now im waiting till spring AGAIN,with my fingers crossed, saying alot of prayers, hoping sh!t dont happen again.....

That's not a bad price, but it ain't a smokin hot deal either. The bikes made before 2010 have a more traditional cruiser seating position. The Roadster has a seating position somewhere between a sport bike and a cruiser. I just picked up an unmolested '09 standard for $7300 with 7100 miles on it a few months ago off EBay. I got REALLY lucky on my purchase and wouldn't expect to find another one at that price.

Maglin , go take a couple of Rockets for a ride ( you will see why most of us smiled about the 'prowess' of your Ironhead) .. get back to us and let us know what you reckon ok.

Welcome. Hope you pick up that Rocket. Speaking of tinkering, here's what happened when Bob Carpenter tinkered with a Triumph Rocket 3.

Welcome from Arizona
it depends on your location if it is a good deal or not. when i was shopping for mine i watched craigslist i thought that oklahoma, texas and nevada had the best bargains. i bought mine in reno Nevada flew up and drove it home.
