Lights, dash but no spinny spinny.

I'll keep this going till it's fixed. Latest is that the voltage to the starter relay is good, the voltage to the relay terminal that is connected to the starter button is good when the button is pressed. Surely this leaves the relay as a main suspect? I'll be resting relay tonight. Oddly I had almost the same thing with a Futura 1000.

just some info to try to help
true ign switch do go bad
true the starter relays do go bad you need another relay (5 prong) can get at auto parts for replacing/spare.
you can hold the starter relay with fingers and when you push the button you can fell it click (use a tie wrap on the clutch lever that leaves two fingers ) and if it clicks that means that all the safety's are working like clutch lever switch ect.
for test purpose you can take a jumper wire with a 20 amp fuse a go from battery to #30 tab on starter relay then try to spin starter this should also give you good lights. now it still may not run if you have bad ign.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind for the next investigation. I took the relay home to test and it appears to be fine, power across 85 and 86 triggers the relay and creates continuity between 30 and 87, releasing the power from 85 and 86 breaks continuity between 30 and the middle pin out (87a). Seems to be like that relay is fine.

continuity is an ok test but the relay has points when off it furnishes power to lights and when the relay is on energized it furnishes power to the starter solenoid.
i still am thinking that the power from ign/fuses is less than required but this should check the relay and starter.

Next stop, engine management relay supply, this is fed by the ignition switch via the fuse 2 (in) and 6, (out). This should point the finger at the switch if there's no current heading to the relay.

Jammed a wire in the supposed earth terminal of the starter relay and ran it to the neg on the battery, and now we have the starter working and it smells like fuel making it's way through. Getting there, just need sparks.

Next question is, where are the grounding points? I know there's one on the starter, one on the battery, any more? Might just make my own.
