Lets see some paint jobs

Oh, I didn't think he would have to pull out the pump assy ... That could ruin your day right there. I hope he's good at the game operation. I would rank from 1 to 10 removing the tank as a 3, removing the fuel pump without damage a 7.

ok I can talk now I went to go pick my tins up that was painted and I told him it looked bad the silver leaf he rubed to hard that you can see the black underneith and he touched it up and it looked like a car with stone chip and some one went around to touch it up with a paint brush, It was all i can do to stay calm
When he told me to stand further back and it looks great I said that if its a good job I should be any distance and it should look good.
Well any how to make a long story short I found out that he was playing with his gun in the shop in the guys office when the gun went off and put a bullet hole in the guys desk and scard the crap out of one one his customers so he told him that he does not want him in his shop any more that today was his last day so he rush my paint job.
So who knows if now I'll get my stuff finished he said he will finish everything still but I'm not going to hold my breath I think if this does not work out I give up I'll just keep everthing wood and fiberglass.
**** it took me a while to come down I can't beleave he told me to stand back further I told him its like saying I got a really nice woman for you but don't go to close she's a lot better looking far away like what good is that:mad: Dam I thought I found the right guy but he's got way to many problems.
He wanted me to go pick is bike up at his auts because he had his bike there because she was going to loan him money and now she won't so he wanted me to get my trailer and go pick it up before she get home and I said no I don't want to get involed in his problems and he didn't understand why I won't help him out.

Sheeeett!!!!.....sounds like you have a bit of a problem with this guy. You have your hands full and it doesn't sound like he is very dependable or professional. Hate to say it, but maybe you should cut your losses, grab your stuff out of there and start looking for someone else.

Looking on the bright side, there is still alot of snow on the ground and so you have time to get it done the way you want. All these problems will only make you appreciate the finished product even more. And I'm sure it will all work out in the end.:D

I would get my stuff before it ends up with a bullet hole in it....... get your stuff and RUNNNNNNNNNNNN.... Good painters are hard to find it took me 2 years to find someone I would trust to put paint on my bike. Parts are easy to ship I would expand my search outside of the area If needed. I ship my stuff to florida for paint.

I would not have left without my stuff. I went through a similar problem when restoring a 1970 Bonneville. A couple of months with my stuff and no calls. Went by the shop and no one was there. Finally tracked the guy down and found out he had closed his shop and went to work for someone else. I guess he didn't need to let me know. I didn't accept any more of his promises and just took my stuff and left.

I have all realdy gave him $1475 because he said he lost his job on his birthday and at fisrt it was only $700.00 down but he got in a car accident his wife left him and he kept on asking for money to help him out and I seen my tank comming along and it looked like he really knows his stuff that he just has problems so I gave him money through out the time and now I'm $1475 in the hole:( We brought the stuff to his uncles auto body shop he said he will finish it up there I really want my tank done its all most finished I really don't care about the paint job .
Thank goodness I never gave him my spoiler and my bottom pieace and my radiator covers .
If I never see the stuff again I lost a extra tank and my extra tins and $1475:( and my my excitment on finding some one to make my dream come true at a fair price.

Hellfire, I think I only played operation once or at the most twice so I don't think I got any good:)
removing the tank a 3 I think I could handle that, but you say removing the fuel pump with out damage a 7, why is that so hard? Whats the best way to take off with out damage? what should I look for? And if damage how much to fix for that part?
I'm just thinking maybe i should bring it in to have triumph do it.

Well I talked to the guy and said I'm not going to pay any more untill I see more done to the tank and I just might paint it black to keep it simple and still look good.
I just want my tank done and the rest can just stay wood and fiberglass people can't tell any how:)

It has to be fished out of a hole that is smaller than the assembly is when expanded. I mean that things kind of spread out once through the hole and have to be wrangled so that things don't get bent or damaged on the way out. I used a coat hanger to arrange the float arm for the trip through the opening. It's not that hard, just can't go yanking and pulling on the stuff or it will break. That's all.

Hellfire, I think you lost me do you know of any video that is step by step taking the tank off?
I'm the kind of guy if I can't see it in my head I can't do it but once I see it I can do it.
Most of the time:D
