Lets see some paint jobs

Hellfire, I think you lost me do you know of any video that is step by step taking the tank off?
I'm the kind of guy if I can't see it in my head I can't do it but once I see it I can do it.
Most of the time:D
There is a thread about fixing the low fuel light around here somewhere .... It is the same procedure for what you want to do. I'll look around for it.

This should help, its a sticky about fixing the low fuel light coming on too soon.
Pig9r did a fantastic job of showing just how things are arranged in the tank, it's better than X-ray vision! :p

There are some dealers who have learned a very tricky technique of correcting the fuel gauge inaccuracy without its removal and via a wire helper inserted through the filler hole. You might ask around your dealer network to see if one of the magicians is local to you, cc!

tank

Triumphil, I would love to have a digital copy of the service manual:)
Hellfire, Thanks Pig9r did a great job now with a copy of the service manual and that step by step I think I'll be good:)
This guy phonded me today and said that the stuff that he needs to do the job the guy will not let him touch his stuff so my stuff is on hold he said he gives me his word that he will finish my stuff for me some how.
I am thinking of buying a mig welder and other stuff he needs and have him at my place to finish my bike up I'll just make sure he leaves his gun at home:)
He's got talent he's just not that bright.
I figure I could help him out with money and he could help me, but just need to think if its worth it:rolleyes: I might be crazy but I looked for a long time to find some one to do my stuff and they take a look and said that they don't have any one that is good enough or they say at $95 an hour they could do it but not sure how long it would take.
and this guy tells me right away how much it will cost and hes fair just has problems and he can't use the tools at his friends shop because of his gun going off in his shop:confused: I like to help him out I could learn a lot from him but my wife doesn't think I should bring him to our house:)

I may be cynical because of 12 years in law enforcement, but I wouldn't let that guy know what town I live in, let alone invite him to my house. The only charity I would consider is getting my stuff and cutting my losses. No need to relearn the same lesson his former employer learned ---- the hard way.

paint

yea but the guy has some talent, I was a bad apple and if my dad wouldn't been so good to me if I would of had parents that cared who know's where I would have been today and when I found some one that I really cared about thats my wife today:) My temper is know controled and my kids to this day never seen the bad side of me.
I think every one could be a good person as long as they have people that care and learn how to care. Yes some people no matter how much you help them they just can't be helped .
My daughter was crying asking me to help her friend that got kicked out of his house and I found out its because he does drugs and my daugter said dad he's a good person please help him take him in.
I said no and she said if one person helps another there be less people in need, I got soft and said let me talk to the parents well to make long strory short this kid no matter how much he gets helped he goes right back how he is and he will steal off me not one in his own familey wants him near them,
so I said no because he seemed to not care.
This guy seems to care but he just has bad luck he seems gifted with all this talent maybe he just needs some one to gide him.
But my wife doesn't want me to but she said its up to me, I think she's testing me thats a no right you guys:)?
And she still keeps me in line I was lucky to find such a great woman to make me the man I am:)

A mig? what's painting tins have to do with a mig? If I understand correctly ... you already paid $1400+ just to get a tank painted? There was gunfire involved at the workplace? His uncle won't let him touch any of his equipment to finish your job? And you are contemplating buying him equipment for his business thats totally unrelated to the job you have already paid him to do? I think if it were me, I'd give him one more chance to do you right on the paint job with a deadline of May 1st. Forget about giving him another dime or a mig welder, and start doing research on small claims court.
Something is rotten in the state of denmark,
This is NOT kosher,
It smells fishy,
something stinks!
You may feel the need to be the good guy and lend a hand, but sometimes it takes really hitting bottom HARD to straighten out a looser, talented or not. Just because he's doing a job for you, doesn't make you responsible or obligated to prop up someones life. Like the others said, opening yourself up to be further taken advantage of is a disservice to yourself and especially your family. Consider what kind of damage someone like this could do your well being, plus the possible risk to your home and family. Is it really worth it?

Dude, do not be another sucker for this guy.. He may be talented.. but he has alot of other issues and he's not going to figure them out and be able to stand on his own until he stops using others as a crutch to lean on. And, he may never figure them out, that's all up to him.

I agree with Hellfire and Rider. I've been burned too many times and unfortunately have learned my lesson the hard way. In trying to help someone out, your the one that get the shaft. Just be carefull with this guy.

If you want I can send my little brother down to supervise the painting. He is 6'4", 310, golden glove boxer and for a bucket of chicken and a half case of beer he would be more than happy to just pinch him if he so much as deviates from the painting process. Its what we call Sicilian persuasion.:D

Either way, I'm sure things will work out. But as for going to the expense of buying a mig welder, well, if you need it for yourself, sure. but if your getting it just for him..hmmm..

Just make sure that this guy doesn't take advantage of your big heart to help. Lotta jackasses out there. Good luck.
