Leaky Final Drive

seems to me it would take less lube on the stand so that would make it practically impossible to over fill it.
unless u pumped more in there because it was leaking then it would probably come out the vent.

60 Nm on that fill plug seems like a lot, I would make sure it's snug and not shoot for the "click."

Have to agree the 60Nm does sound like a lot doesn't it.

As for overfilling, I didn't do the last oil change and seal replacement so I will find out tomorrow if they did it properly.

i would just remove the fill plug and that should tell u.
if it over full that would be the answer to the gear oil coming out the vent but it would not cause it to blow out the seal.
i have not heard of any rocket blowing gear lube out the vent.

Did you ever figure out the source of the leak?

Choche, it was the final drive oil leaking past the large final seal.
Tried changing the seal, it is really non replaceable, ended up swapping in a second hand final drive unit.

ALL FIXED!

I was going to mention that if someone has a final drive donor and can remove the seals, I can try to compare them up against a bunch of seals laying around in my old man's (RIP) shop. I grew up with him working on automotive transmissions; over the years, he accumulated a bunch of seals. Who knows but we may find some compatible seals....
