Mine was just a seep. You could run your finger across the rectangle opening on the bottom of the drive unit, and you'd get 90w oil on your fingers. You can definitely tell 90w from regular motor oil, by the smell. Wipe it off, and a day or two later, back again. Not even a drip, just seeping. Was told it is a sealed unit, and can not be disassembled or repaired. Apparently made by an Italian company.

Well, mine is a leak.
Had not heard it is a sealed unit, maybe I should be getting onto Triumph?

Also, I have no sense of smell, so to me its just oil!

Thanks for the info.

Okay,
From all I can find out it seems like the final drive, bevel box unit is a sealed non repairable item.
Seems I will be looking for a complete unit to change out, just to fix an oil leak.

Peter,

Thanks for that, I was thinking a second hand unit though.
There is one in the states that will ship here for a total of $560 American.

You don't have one lying around do you :)

That is Au$777.77 after currency conversion fees currently US$0.72 per Au$ - are you feeling lucky?

BESIDES! should be a simple fix for your weep/leak.
When you drained it did you refill with the recommended 90ml ? That is f*ck all.

Easy to overfill if you did not have the over fill bung out
and level, not on sidestand.

Oh oh, I thought it was 170ml

90 you say, I am draining a refilling this weekend.

OOPs 170ml. :oops::oops::oops::D

But not a bad idea and cheap to check by draining and re-filling.

I'd try different oil (90w) and fill as necessary, until I found a good used replacement. I was lucky enough to get a used one from a forum member (Thanks Scott) for a lot cheaper than $560, so I snapped it up as a spare. No, it ain't for sale!;)
