The lady in pink was just a stranger in the night. It was FantasyFest, after all. I met Mrs. Mjp2 at a bar a couple years later, which is probably no classier a story but I always found fairy tales to get too predictable anyway.
Of course, I just realized that she too has pink hair these days, though the Mrs' isn't a wig. I only just now realized that I may have a "type" lol
All I can say is "Bravo Sir". I think I may be getting close to that point in my life as well where i feel I just want to chuck everything and hit the road. Nice to see the trailblazers there before me.

Do it. Find a way and do it. If you can, go it alone and forget your GPS. I've always found that I interact MUCH more with the locals when I travel alone vs. with even 1 additional person. Stay at the small non-chain motels. Speak with the clerks to find out what's going on in town. Eat the local food. Listen to the locals. Ask for directions to nowhere in particular.
The best places I saw were the result of speaking with old ladies at the local breakfast place. They'd send me down paths that weren't on any map. The roads...the roads! Did you know there are log bridges around the Mt Rushmore and 3 different tiny tunnels that each face and frame the monument? Ahh....now I want to be back there!
