My R3 just has the cat bypass pipes with the standard R3 exhaust... No TORs... Would do Jardines or TORs but don't like the noise....

Question 1: Are there any performance pipes out there for the R3 that would keep the noise level around the same as what I have now??

Question 2: With the configuration I have now (cat bypass + stock pipes), would Tuneboy improve performance over the Triumph tune for this configuration?? If so, by how much HP and Torque??

Thanks,

Mike...

[1] No - quiet is not conducive to generating power so if you want power you'll have to put up with some noise. I'd suggest you put on TORs but put back one stock pipe to muffle the sound a bit. For other owners, you can also not use the catbypass pipe with TORs or other aftermarkets (except Jardines since that is a whole system) or if you have a full catbox (on all 2006 models) swap your full catbox for an empty one and put the TORs on. This should give you some extra power but less noise than any set up with catbypass.

[2] **** yeah! Just removing the first 3 gear power restrictions in stock tunes will give you noticeable improvements. Can't wait to get my Tuneboy!

I'm running the same set up, ie cat bypass with standard pipes and Wayne at Tuneboy suggested I use the 05 Modified tune, I did and its great, the power increase is significant and the slow speed town riding is also vastly improved.

This might be a stupid question, but where do you get an empty catbox? 8)

PetSmart

Anyone in the US other than California that installed a cat bupass pipe will have one. They have the letter N stamped into the left side right below where the pipe exits.

I have one that has been gutted and rewelded back if you're interested. $25 plus shipping from 21050.

Sorry, got my facts wrong . What I mean't to say was why won't the cat bypass and the tors work together? 8)

They will but it will be quite abit louder

Tune boy will make you bike feel like a real rocket.
I got it put in early in the week, and man what a difference in the lower gears.
1 bad thing I can see will be rear tyre life

The TOR's and cat bypass pipes do work together.... Most of the power gain, (I am told by me dealer) comes from the bypass pipes and the return... TORS give you a little more plus the sound...
