Is this the 'New Ramair" filter?

Got my Ramair early January 2016 and fitted it following the utube video. I used one of those "Magnetic pens" to help not dropping the fiddly bolts down behind the oil tank...must say it worked well. Today, Valentines day, I took the bearclaw off to have a check of the ramair and found two of the rubbers under the hoseclips had broken off!!!BUGGER!!...must have over tightened the bloody things!...so I put the whole thing together again minus the hoseclips but I put plastic ties around the whole deal which will hold it good.
Man I love the noise of those secondaries opening as I winde her up!
Have loaded tuneecu to open the revs and speed and dyno tuned her...she goes bloody nice now!

That's the newer one, my brother has done about 10,000 klms with one and no problems, just done over tighten them, I think from memory they are only 1.5 NM which is sweet Fu$k all
It would be nice if they made a less restrictive filter for the modified Rockets

This is interesting. I wonder if there is enough of a difference @HansO to need a different map - different from the wonderful one you sent me for "stock" - or I should just be happy with the new "for stock" map knowing the motor is breathing easier not fighting the seat and all the wiring I added ? I also have the single pipe exhaust I haven't installed . . . between the two . . . I wonder.

A RAMAIR is going to be way less restrictive than the plenum/snorkel debacle so it would stand to reason that it will initially run lean. That is why I am installing a Dolbeck AFR+ on mine as I prefer to spend my money on hookers than dyno tuners:eek::rolleyes::inlove:unsure:

in due time hookers will fall by the wayside it is inevitable and so tuners will become part of your future!!

This reminds me I have to take my claw off and check what the state of mine is. I think the Touring claw is even narrower in the rear than the Roadster one but not sure.

The intakes definitely move up and down a little when the engine is running. The claw, meanwhile, is stationary. So maybe it's not just overtightening, with the claw pressing against the filter the way it is, it may set up a rocking motion that just causes it to start cracking over time. I believe this was speculated about earlier also.

The stock airbox leaves uh air between it and the claw so you don't get the same potential back and forth rocking going on there.

Been toying with the idea of pre-emptively shaving some off the Ramair foam where it rubs the hardest...

Well...I will be installing mine with an Oz Claw and and a DP AFR+...Will let you know how the fit is with the RAMAIR with the OzClaw compared to the BearClaw
