Insides of TORS

I knew there wasn't a cat in there, but there must be a baffle or something, no? Otherwise, with the inlet where it is, wouldn't most of the exhaust just go straight through and out the exhaust-side pipe? The one on the intake-side would likely get some exhaust, but much. Right?

I would LOVE to get a little more sound out of this bike, but I don't want to end up with something that is disturbingly loud. I love the Jardine sound, but have read it can be a bit annoying on a roadtrip.

I have considered burning the glass out of the pipes, but I am afraid that will damage the chrome or the pipe itself somehow.

My Dad thinks I am nuts for wanting more noise. He rides a Goldwing and doesn't want to hear any engine/exhaust sound. When I ride, all I hear is wind whether I wear a helmet or not.

I never did get to hear the stock pipes as I bought the bike with the TORS already installed. Others here say the TORS are significantly louder than stock, but if that is true then the stock pipes completely silenced the bike. I just don't think they are very loud.
 
I bought TOR's and installed and the dealer tuned for them. I was the same and wanted a little more sound. So I gutted my stock mufflers and put them back on, it can be done without blueing the outside, I used a two inch hole saw and the victor smoke wrench. It does sound different, a little louder, I'm not sure about better, its more like those drifter wanna-be cars the kids are sporting around town now. I kept a long thin yellow flame and slowly melted the baffles loose, then with gloves on, turned it up and shook molten junk out. It ain't a rumble, just louder. It also kinda has a wave effect at highway speeds, up-down-up-down. Also you could consider keeping water flowing over the outside while torching the inside. And after removing the baffles there is a converter looking thing in the front of them, I couldn't get that out. As for back pressure and all that kind of stuff, hmm beats me, although it is important. I'm probably gonna reinstall the TOR's when I go darkside by the end of the month.
 
I am a fabricator of sorts. I have an idea on how to cut the slash end off square, take out the insides, use my 4" can Harley baffles to replace and then install the Harley end caps. I'm going to try it. I see TORs are up to $500.00 now!

Good luck. If your experiment doesn't go the way you want it to, I have a set of D&Ds that I'll make you a good deal on.
 

I almost looked up what a victor smoke wrench was. Almost...... Then it hit me, and I said 'Doh!!!'
 
D&d mufflers

Harry is the man! I purchased his D&D mufflers and they are just what the doctor ordered! After the dealer downloaded the TORs tune, the bike runs fantastic.
No more back firing through the air filter on downshifts from 5th to 4th. Very small amount of decell popping and NO MORE LEAN FEEL. The drivability is like night and day! The fuel milage even seems better.

If you own an R3T,,,, just do it!!
 
Yeah, its a shame the way they delivered the R3T. So much unrealized potential.

Now, post up that picture of your bike. Everybody needs to see the one of a kind Black and White R3T.
 
Okay. I think i figured out how to do it. These are with the stock mufflers, as I have not taken any pictures yet with the D&D mufflers. Let's see if anyone can tell what's different!
