Inexpensive Starter Replacement

12.86 to start
12.62 lights on
10 minutes later 12.48
starter engage 10.59
Engine running 13.83

Seams ok at this point your going to need to check while having problem.
Might check to make sure that starter relay is a 12 volt relay.

in the 2008 service manual it states measure voltage @2000rpm, needs to be between 14-15v (page 1.21)

It's my turn for starting issues and a HUGE Shout-out to all of the folks who provided critical information in this thread. I'm fairly confident my issue is the solenoid, but I am going to go ahead and do the 1.4 starter upgrade along with replacing the cables I got from (I believe) @Mittzy awhile back. (Of course, I have to find them.) I'm glad to see the starter price is still extremely reasonable.

Has anyone found a USA based source for the solenoid rebuild kit? I'm waiting on a response from the eBay UK supplier as, by default, they are not shipping to Arizona.

Thanks!

Hello all, received my starter today, Amazon uk £118 delivered, unbolted the mounting bracket and gears, 4 bolts, 2 long and 2 short, had to shorten the shaft with the dremel by an inch and a bit to match the triumph starter, bolted back together to the triumph bracket and straight back onto the bike. It’s a bit bigger than the original starter, I have the triumph decat pipe and there’s just enough room (2006 classic). Pressed start and it spins up like never before, I’m well impressed 😀 took about an hour.
