I'm new to this forum. I have a new(old) 08 TR3T and a 01 VALK Interstate

Welcome. I too own and ride a Valk ('97 classic). It seems Rockets and Valkyries appeal to some of the same folks. The way I see it, the Valkyrie inspired the advent of the Rocket. Most folks don't realize the Valkyrie was once the largest displacement motorcycle in existence for several years. The Rocket ended the displacement wars the Valkyrie started.

Sorry I can't help you with your tire questions. I just ride with stock type tires. Ride safe.
You run stock on the VALK too?

Welcome, from Ocala.I run Michelin Commander 2's about 14,000 on them so far & still look good.where in Florida do you live?

Yeah, I run stock tires on all my bikes. I have a Kawasaki Vulcan too. It also takes a 180 rear. I get about 7000 miles on the Rocket tires, 10,000 miles on the Valkyrie tires, and 12,000 miles on the Vulcan tires.

I have read some of the Dark Side threads, and that might be the route to go for some, but not for me. I understand getting better mileage off tires is the goal, but any risk that the tire may handle in a way I am not used to at high speed could prove to be disasterous for me. I already have a bunch of health issues and don't need more. Because of my health issues I have to take fentnyl, oxycodone, lyrica, prednisone, and medical marijuana. So my reflexes are not what they used to be.

Hey Ocala, I live in Fleming Island, in between the Clay County seat of Green Cove Springs, and just south of Orange Park on HWY 17. We have 2 main HWYs. SR 17, and CR 220. It's starting to get a little crowded here and am trying to talk my wife into moving to Ormond Beach. She like horses so Ocala would fit her bill. I like Horse power, that's why I own a Honda Interstate 1520CC, and now the Rocket Touring. Not a fan of loud bikes. Lost too much hearing in the Navy, when I was young dumb, and full of C_M.

Welcome from Mississippi! If I'm not mistaken the tourers in 08 ran the standard wide rear? If that's the case there's plenty of DS tire info on here. For an MT the predominant winner seems to be the excedra Max.

Welcome from Illinois

Count me in as another drawn to the Power Cruiser DNA of Valkyries, V-Max's and R3s alike. I remember riding my 97 Valkyrie to the Triumph dealership to witness the first generation of the R3 and liking much of what I saw; but hoping for some later 'sporting up' of its original platform.

I rode a V-Max 97000 miles, and my Valk 156,000. I'm looking at buying a 2014 R3 Roadster I hope gives me equally reliable, big smile miles.
