You should remove the horn cover and possible the horn if it is in the way. I am not at home so I cannot confirm the horn but it wont hurt to anyway. From there you have to get the two break off bolts out with a punch and ball peen hammer. The two that match the mounting bolts on you new switch. Some people remove the upper triple tree but I got them out without doing that. Then its you option disassemble the new switch so you can keep the same key or go with the complete unit. Look closely at the one on the bike so you remove the right break off bolts. The ones that remove the lower switch is what I chose so I can keep the same key.
Hope this helps.
