ignition switch again?

JD...I feel your pain, but the others are right I would definitely buy the harness to make sure that it didn't happen again...then if it did go out again...then I could see you ready to ditch it.

I only had the one bad switch...other than that my bike ran pretty decent the rest of the time that I had it.

Well.....I would have felt better if you would have traded it in on some other manufacturer's bike...but hey...it's your money and you are the one that needs to be satisfied.

Good luck...at least a lot of bling can be bought for those as well.

I don't blame you JD, I was constantly worried about my Rocket leaving me stranded somewhere while I had it, that's why I wasn't too sad to see it go. Sure I would have rather not seen it repo'ed but I could do nothing about it.

Looking in from the outside now, after not having the Rocket any longer and just standing around and listening to the conversations about them struck me as funny. Everyone talked about how trouble free they are but almost to a man expressed concerns about, ignition switch failure, replacing the TPS, Idle Stepper motors, headlight relays, cam chain tensioners, shifter problems, etc. It really started to sound like a bunch of Harley folks with all the issues, but blinded by an unwavering love for the machine. Don't get me wrong, I have a special place in my heart for the Rocket, it really is an incredible machine, but it does have it's faults. I probably won't ever have another Triumph, hell I may never have another bike, but if I do it won't be another modern Triumph.

I'm estimating my R3T spent about 9 months of the past three years being worked on and/or waiting on parts. That's time I couldn't ride...
The main reasons I went w/ Harley is the fact that parts are readily available and my brother in-law is a Harley Tech... And the Road Glide Ultra really is nice... It already has everything I wanted to add to my Rocket...
 

They also have mechanics at every other exit. You have to ride what you like JDuke, and I don't fault you for that. I can tell you that the dealer here is HD and Triumph and 98 % of what comes in on a truck is HD. Ride on Brother, hope to see you on my horizon again. I remember the days when I put a plate under my old Triumphs to catch the oil, bad carbs, worse wiring, and I still ride em.
 

Oh ye who stops up toilets, we are a different breed, we ride Triumph and we are Triumph riders even if we're walking. I did like the Ducati in Asheville for a play thing like Hugh Hefner with a new bunny
 
It doesn't matter what you ride as long as it is what you want after all you have to please yourself. That being said I do not get mad at mine if it breaks down. Of course with all the mods and thrashing I give her who could be mad. I am getting a used one in June and plan on leaving it alone and use it as my hooligan bagger. I still will take the beast on long rides also but I must admit it is not as economical as a stock one.

Sorry to hear about all the problems with your bike. I certainly understand the desire to move on to something different. Here's hoping you still come to the Rocket events and continue to ride with us! All the best with the new bike, I hope it is everything you want in a ride.
