Rocket III final drive knackered. Tip. If you have an older Rocket but not had the drive shaft...
I got all this done for about the same price as the repair would have cost elsewhere...

Review;
Collected from near Gatwick and taken to Merthyr Tydfil. The winch in the back of their van was well up to the job of dragging the bike in. It was returned about 4 weeks later totally sorted. It came back with a bag of all the bits that had been replaced/upgraded. Only complaint was getting billed extra for the return delivery (despite it being included in ebay listing). The bike has been running without the slightest problem since.
 
Wow that's 4065.74 USD even with the update kit going for 1200.00 USD now verses the 200.00 I paid for my kit. I would do this all day long for 2800.00 in labor. I must admit though I took my time and a weekend to complete it along with the other repairs from my internal clutch hub exploding

Since the price is gotten astronomical on these I should point out to you that not everything is needed or upgraded. Some things are there because of bad Quality assurance so they send the parts in case they missed something. If you have a middle 08 to 09 they should have most of the components in it already. 08 Touring and 09 standard and classic model years were the first years the detent spring started breaking. Before that the only reason why the detent mechanism was touched was because of the change in the detent wheel design.

Glad to hear your 07 is running fine next time you have the rear wheel up pull the bevel box and check to make sure you splines are lubed well with molly paste. as it is something not stressed in the update kit instructions and is only pointed out in the shop manual as a general statement.
 
Yes, if you have a workshop, the tools and the know how doing it yourself is the best option. I had started work myself, but soon found it was beyond me. I had sheared 2 bolts by then. I needed the forks doing too (one had leaked a few months before) and that was included. It was expensive, but it was also the best option at the time. I think we pay more for spares and labour in the UK than in the USA. A sales tax of 20% on both does not help!
 
I know what you mean you should have seen the look the wifey gave me when I pulled the bike into the basement to tear it apart.

I am curious though what bolts did you shear off?

One was one of those holding the running board bracket to the engine casing. The other was also into the engine casing, but I forget which one. The guys in Merthyr Tydfil sorted those out for me too. An extra £100.

Ya you have to be careful with the Triumph bolts some get messed up on the original installation. I had a Kick stand bolt that must have been torque q wee bit to much and pulled the threads. I added a helicoil to fix the problem. I tell everyone to follow the torque specifications as they are not to good at going past them.

Also as note to anyone reading when look for a used Rocket engine the first thing I look at, is to see if the peg/running board rails had been torn out in a accident.
