First, I need to say that the Corbin Beetle Bags are a very nice product. The installation was easy but the color match is only acceptable. I under stand that there are all kind of variances; however for what you are asked to pay, It is tough to swallow.
Now, let me tell you the story of a guy who calls to order Beetle bags. He goes as far as calling and obtaining the total cost including shipping. Then while he is perparing to place order over the phone he realizes that it would be better that he hold off till the following week (bonus check in mail). At this time he appoligizes to the salesperson at Corbin and states that he will call back next week to place order, considering he stated that it would be a five week wait any how.
Fast forward one week and this same fool calls back to place order, only to find out that the price has gone up $200.00 because the cost of materials has increased (having to do with the cost of petroleum products). I all but plead with the saleswomen my weak case of not being able to finish the week earlier and she just dismissed it like she was one of my old girlfriends. Needless to say she then informs that it is my lucky day because there are two sets sitting in Florida and she can save me some money on shipping (GREAT- $20.00). Now, I think to myself--- If they are in Florida now and there is a five week production delay, these bags were made way in advance of the increase in cost of materials-- I will ask if these bags are at the lower price (I was trying to be open minded while also hoping she would be). Well wouldn't you know it, those bags were only availiable at the higher price. So then I ask, If your costs come back down would the price and with a little chuckle NO. At this time I had to make an important decision, order now or hang up and call tomorrow and pay $200.00 more, so I ordered them and looked over my shoulder to see if anyone noticed as I caved.
I received them on friday and installed them today. I looked at all the possible options and to me the Corbins were the best all around choice for locking hard bags for the R3 considering there arent that many.
I quess if you look at what we pay for the majority of aftermarket items this just falls in line and thats how I justified my purchase.
Just some info- If you have the plate relocator from Rivco you will need to lower the turnsignals
Below are some pics.
Thanks
Scott
