HOW TO RIDE THE DRAGON

I had the pleasure of running in front of an Aussie on the Dragon on my Storm and throwing a few pebbles his way off my pegs. With the amount of traffic on the Dragon except in the winter it's a different world than these Wingers running it like a closed course.

As bad a** as that video is, it don't even come close to the reality of riding that road like those guys are doing it Ruzzle. I would be pushing my personal limits to average the speed limit from one end to the other and that is only 30 mph. A lot of folk have come to grief on that stretch of road.

Agreed!
Tis the most technical riding stretch of roadway I have ever ridden and I've done most of the known famed twisty sections around.
I ran the Dragon four and eight times in my two visits there before I felt I had done my best on the Roadster.
My beat was not what those Wing riders did!

What was his business?

Cannot remember his name but he was a truck driver and tried to get a full time business going by following you and taking the video front or rear, last I heard he was selling his bike and going back to truck driving--would like to see him on the dragon with his truck(semi--lorry) That Goldwing was at the Dragon a lot very surprised no one else has seen it it has a great camera set up on it.

Do all old knights look like HansO? :D

Where do the swords come from or do all good knights carry their own? Cannot imagine they just leave them lying around for 'randoms' to slay dragons. I could bring a couple along, but my D2 tool steel one with two handed grip would probably cut its head off if Mongo was around.

If all knights looked like Hanso, the fair damsels would stay with the dragons.............................

Better not let the swat squad hear about that tool steel thingo......................

The law in ACT re swords is not as draconian as Victoria where they are banned. Can still get charged with "Carry a knife in public without valid purpose" though :( including Swiss army style slip joints. But really at my age you would have to be on the town at night or being a f--kwit in public or committing another crime to be effected. They use it especially for young dickh--ds being a pain in the arse in public to back up other charges. Cannot carry even a Buck 110 lock folder on a belt anymore though :banghead::mad:

I've riddenthe dragon multiple times and will be riding it this August along with the Blueridge Pkwy and the Cherhala, the snake, rte 441 and a couple others. Only live about 4 hoirs away. There are some really fine roads all throughout the Appalachin range.

The time trials record is held by a local GW rider. I was once told he is no longer with us. The only times I'll ride it any more is during the week.

Smart A**s you'll keep

Around my part of the world most of the good roads are like the dragon. The trick is don't try to go fast, and keep you eyes looking as far ahead as possible.

I once went to race car school for thee days. We had two hours of class and six hours on the track every day. The most important thing in racing we were told by each individual instructor was
where you looked. You must look ahead much farther than you would imagine. When I was driving the instructor who rode with me about 4 hours a day would always yell "eyes eyes" if I wasn't looking
far enough forwards. You go where you look.
