How many near misses can you count?

I think Hollywood stuntmen couldn't choreograph crossing that intersection any better. They should all come to Hollywood and get jobs.

The more I see how the rest of the world lives in countries like that or even worse places, I'm very glad I was lucky enough to have been born in a developed country.

Trying not to be racist or putting down other folks around the world. Just glad I live here. I guess I'm not tough enough to handle places like that.

It's not as chaotic as it may seem. They are all travelling relatively slowly there is actually a 'loose' set of 'rules'.

They are so predictable that if you spend a day on a scooter in any built up area of Indonesia you soon learn how to get around safely. In my experience (and as Zimtuff has already described) it's when you get out of town that the fun really starts....

Guess that's why when there were a lot of Aussies and Yanks in Vietnam they took along armoured personnel carriers .. :p

....I wouldn't say organised ;)

Around home I watch and wait and anticipate who may or may not pull out in front of me, it's a completely different riding experience when you KNOW they are all going to!

A mate and his wife who both like a drink spent 6 weeks backpacking in Vietnam last year. They said the trick to crossing the road is don't hesitate just step straight out into the traffic and walk quickly straight across the road and the traffic will go around you. Sounds scary but apparently it works.

I was in a military intelligence aviation unit in Phu Bai. We needed a 5 ton wrecker to haul aircraft around the tarmac. Anyhow to make a long story short, I was driving over the Hai Van pass from DaNang to Phu Bai and these crazy Vietnamese with these little three wheel buses and buses come screaming down the mountain part way in my lane. It is a sheer drop off to my right. At first I would move over a little, but **** that was nerve racking. So I just stayed where I was on the road since I was much bigger. Definitely an experience:eek:

Have to admit
There was a beautiful view. I remeber that there was a lepper colony down in the valley after you got off the mountain.
