I reckon a good test would be if you can breathe through it
So I thought I would test all my supposedly waterproof breathable jackets trousers, liners etc
My test was to put an area of the garment tightly over my mouth and try to blow through it - if it doesn't let me do this it's extremely unlikely to let water vapour through.
Firstly all of my garments that do not claim to be waterproof ARE breathable
So is my waterproof Triumph Steve McQueen jacket (which is cool too)
and my Wolf textile jacket
A Craghoppers Aquadry anorak thing
The items that are waterproof and claim to be breathable but are NOT include:
Cheap Triumph Acton trousers
Liner for Akito desert jacket
Expensive Sprayway Hydrolite overtrousers
I will add to this list later, as we are getting carpets fitted and I have nothing better to do than blow air through various items of clothing
