help on a DT185

My son has a old DT185 2 stroke dirt bike and is having some problem with it . The bike starts and runs and revs up in neutral but under load it will not rev out . I was thinking maybe a loss of compression ? any ideas from all the experts on here .

Get him a new KTM

Fair enough .. DT185 gota be a 30 year old bike isn't it ???

Dt185 that would be a blue Suzuki ?i had one of those new in 1991 .inever had the trouble your sons having ,but I did had a similar problem with a73 Bonnie.the problem was in the float levels in the carburetors .

Dave i am no expert ........ have you checked the compression? the timing is important ,has it been decoked?the exhaust blocked ,if it has been stood for a long time there mabe **** in the carbs.
The list goes on...

I would consider the coil or maybe crank seals.
