I had the same problem this weekend. I figured that the burned ignition switch gremlin found me. After 10 mins of cussing I figured out that I forgot to lift the kick stand. Dummy.........

You will know a switch failure .... It will die at the most inopportune time during rush hour traffic on the way to work.. LOL;)

found the problem to be a chafted wire on the top triple tree were the harness and front brake hose go through a spring like clamp.the stainless brake hose had worn through the harness.shorting out the kill switch.
cheers buddha :(

Mine had a bad connection

FWIW -

I had a bad connection on one lug in a connector under the tank - I had intermittent cycling of the power up relay ... engine shut down, then all the instrument lights came on, then the engine would start again ... WHILE MOVING. This was sometimes initiated by turning on high beams, using the horn, or seemingly innocuous electrical operations.

I would have occasions when first turning it on, none of the instruments would light up and the engine wouldn't start. The headlamps, tail lights, and horn worked fine,
After a few wiggles, shakes, and toggles of the emergency power off switch it started right up as if nothing was wrong.

It eventually died in a parking lot (car park) and wouldn't light up.

The mechanic had the same thing happen on his old Tiger, fished out the offending (plastic) connector plug and just soldered the wires, eliminating the plug all together.

Fortunately was still under warranty, barely.
