Hello, my name is Sean and I live in Houston, Texas

Welcome. I actually have to come from my beloved mountains to Houston next week, wish I could bring my Rocket along.

Welcome to the club Shawn!
You mentioned your history of riding everything but a street bike, i hope you have riding on the street once or twice at least since the rocket is a beast and very few bikes can compare to the arm yanking torque the rocket has, enjoy it but ove all, be careful, get to know it and then let it rip!!!:D

Welcome from a fellow Texan. Be wary. I have found whenever anybody thinks they have the art of riding streetbikes down pat, it kicks their asses. The Rocket really is a beast and will respond to however much you twist the throttle. IMO not a good bike to learn street riding. Good luck.

Welcome, from another Texan! Maybe you can meet up with us in November at the Lone Star Rally in Galveston....

If you find you have some free time on your hands give me a ring. I have a spare Rocket that needs some exercise. I will be in town until Wednesday night then headed out to a bike rally

Josey,

If you happen to come through DFW area on your way to Houston, be sure to stop in and take a break.

Ken

Welcome! Woah, that's one hell of a way to make your entrance into the street bike world. There is a lot of advice that could be given here, but one thing I do want to point out is - these things are heavy, even coming from a 500 pound cruiser, the Rocket took getting used to. Never park downhill, make sure the kick-stand goes on solid ground and be careful when turning at low speeds (if you suddenly have to stop while leaning into the driveway because someone comes out of it, it takes a bit of effort to straighten the bike back up). Get the engine guards (you'll need a place to mount the highway pegs anyways) and if you don't know this already - get someone to show you how to lift bikes up (butt into seat, grab the grip and the shock, lift with knees). Good luck! These things are a blast.
