Hello, not quite a R3T owner yet but I've done my research, pricing and visits to know the R3T could be my next (and perhaps last) bike purchase. I began looking for a touring ride that fit but at 6'6" and 300lbs not too many baggers fit me. I sat on as many bikes i could and learned i am relegated to the monster cruisers like the R3T or Suzuki C109. I really want the R3T but even it seems tight in the knees. Any suggestions, help or opinions? Are there forward controls that work? Does a different seat help? Any tall riders out there care to throw in some pointers?

Any comments or advice would be appreciated with thanks.

Hello and welcome from Finland,

I'm 6'3.2" tall and 80lbs quite skinny in other words but as i have quite long legs
i researched the forward control thing quite close. I dont think there are afternarket
parts availble (i could be wrong) but the forward control design on the R3 allows mod's quite easily to be made. Theres a post somwhere here regarding that.
I would suggest you take R3T for a test ride , you just might like it the way it is...

Just my 2cent's

Some people have tried a few things to move their pegs/boards forward on the rails. It can be done but requires some engineering. One bike I saw recently had actually moved the whole rails forward with some fabricated brackets. First time I'd seen that and it looked like the simplest solution. There's a couple of discussions on here about moving pegs forward. If I can find them I'll post links but you could try 'search'.

In any case you can/should fit highway pegs. Even if the controls are a bit cramped for comfort you can quickly stretch out once you get into top gear. I do on mine all the time - and I'm only 5'11''.

Welcome from Australia, by the way. The C109 is a bit of a lump of a bike and sluggish compared to a Rocket - even the Touring - and is not in the same league although I can see why you'd consider it as perhaps the only other option. A Kwaka V2K in good condition is another one that might work. Or if you want to look stupid, try a Victory Vision. Nar, Rocket's the way to go.

Hey Mats, are you really only 80lbs?????? Or did you mean kgs?

Welcome.. I searched Long Legs for you..this may help.

Yes 80kgs, not lbs , i got it mixed up here, as i'm a "metric" guy...

Bullsco,
First off Welcome to the site where anything you want to know about a Rocket
can be found, and has been tried by somebody somewhere at some time.
I'd test ride a standard, (used) or a new Roadster, the touring is just to small for you.

I'm 6'3" 270lbs. I rather like the R3T feel.. I came off Harleys and the R3T Floorboards are farther forward than Harley. I suggest Highway pegs and remove the rear shifter so you can move your left foot around.

Corbin dual tour will lift you about 1" or you could have the standard seat customised (can't see that a 2.5" lift would be too much of a problem?)
