hi...great site...looks like my head gasket might need doing..no water-oil or oil to water but have a leak on lefthand side (.only 14k miles....do i need to remove engine or can head be removed in the frame?..bike is an 2004 rocket3..also have similar problem on my 08 r3t???bit disapointing,only 1400 miles..least that one is under warranty...thanks for any imformation... :shock:
 
Head gasket or valve cover gasket. I think that you lift the frame off the motor . Some one here will corect me if I am wrong
 
The head gasket leak is common. Mine had it, was fixed under warranty. Try to get it fixed for free by the dealer. Shop around for a dealer that will do it.
 
That should be able to be fixed in the bike. I agree on trying to get it fixed under warranty. Triumph has been pretty good about stuff like that, depending on what it is, especially if it has been problematic.

That's pretty odd for one owner to have it occur on two bikes. That's some **** bad luck.
 
head gasket...

i agree that having it on both bikes is unlucky...i would understand if i was doing burnouts or wheeling everwhere but i dont....will check behind oil tank tomorrow on 04 rocket..fingers crossed...will let you all know what i discover..apparently the breather goes up behind the oil tank?..john

On your 08 r3T, make sure it is not cosmoline weeping if the bike is still new. These bikes have a history of weeping cosmoline off of the left side, underneath the oil tank, middle of the tank, then down the left hand side. It appears like it is oil, then at about 1,000 to 1,500 miles it quits after the cosmoline burns off. However a few of the r3T's have had a gasket leak I believe, but very few.

Hi had a head gasket done on my R3T 08 at 1250 miles it took 5 hours no problems sofar................
 
head gasket also

mine is at the dealer, gold coast on long island, for same problem. Leaking on to mufflers when at speed, wet spots on block. 9k miles, bad gasket, and wont start when cold. my first new bike after 53 used ones, and my first time having to get one serviced. i bought the new bike to avoid this. oh well, looks nice at least...
