Have you run into this?

At a RAA a couple of years ago we found two Rockets with incorrectly installed rear brakes. The bolt that stops the callipers from spinning round was not bolted into the hole. Fortunately both of them were done in such a way that the callipers would not rotate forwards, but if the rider were trying to use the brake to stop the bike rolling backwards down a hill then it could have got very nasty very quickly. IIRC both bikes had been incorrectly done by dealers.

I tend to not go to dealers with that attitude. However, I will often ask the dealer if they can match, or come close to, an internet price that I can show them on my phone. If they can come reasonably close to the price then I will buy it from them, to support local business and the local dealer. If they are not even interested in discounting then I ask them why I should buy from them and not from the opposition.

You may find that if you take the wheel and tyre to a regular tyre store then they will change it for you for about $20. However, they may not be able to balance it. You can get a motorcycle wheel balancer from HF for about $40 and do that easily yourself.

Or you can just use Dyna Beads and be done with it. I've been using them for years. Not only do they work better than wheel weights, they don't ugly up your wheels like wheel weights do...

If you have even a little bit of mechanical skills, it shouldn't be too difficult to remove the wheel from the bike yourself. I picked up a lift with a coupon from Harbor Freight for less than $100. I remove the wheels on my 109 myself and then take them to a local Victory dealership. I had my wheels chromed so I needed to take them to a place that has the plastic tools so not to scratch the chrome and they have them. They charge $25 a wheel to dismount the old, and install the new tire. No need for balancing as I use Dyna Beads which I install myself. It was well worth the purchase price of the lift so the dealership doesn't need to take the wheels off of the bike...I also like to support my local businesses, so long as I can get what I need at a reasonable price...

I have the same issue with the local Triumph dealer that is not really so local. Full list price on the tire and $50.00 mount and balance and I take the rear wheel off. My local bike shop cannot change the rear tire because the Rocket wheel is to big. I made a deal with my local Good Year franchise to change the tire for $25.00 they cannot balance the wheel because of the hub assembly. The my local bike shop will balance the tire for $15.00. Rocky Mountain ATV has the best price for the Avon Cobra.
I've had rear tyres from Rocky Mountain posted to Australia in 3 days, had em fitted and balanced and still come out in front by nearly $100.....love em.
