Hard Top Bag

Hey all. I installed a hard Givi Top Box on my R3 Tourer today. Basically I bought another quick release sissy bar and rack. Then I cut off the sissy bar and installed the rack. Then installed the Givi plate. It was pricey, but I couldn't think of another way to have a quick release top box and back rest. Tell me what you think. I attached pics with the box and with the backrest.

Awesome!! This is exactly what i want to do! Could you take more pics from all around so I can get a feel for it. How do you like the look? I,m going to take stainless steel bar and drill and tap it to mock the back rest supports. this way I do not have to buy another one

But Givi is what i want to go with. What size? I was looking at the E55

Yeah, I'll take more pics tomorrow when the sun is up...I think the box looks great on the bike...I did buy, drill, and tap some stainless steel rods and it worked great, but I wanted two seperate quick release setups...I have a V46 Monokey...the thing is huge and holds a lot of stuff for long rides...later...
 
Oh yeah! I can see why you would want 2 setups....hmmmmm...might be the way i want to go as well. You cant beat the pricing for those and I assume they are of good quality. (are they? LOL) So really compared to other hard tops you probably are ahead with buying the extra setup.
I usually ride 2 up with the wife so the E55 will hold 2 full size helmets but when I ride to work I can just quick release it off. I bring my helmet in with me anyways.

Same here, I have an aftermarket top box, didn't want to cut my sissy bar, as my friends suggested, nor buy another. Just got to get to Buffalo to Metal Supermarket.

This is the one I bought, third one down, $179, great price. I thought I'd have to paint it, picture is deceiving, nice high gloss finish, construction seems decent, backrest is pretty hard, but that can be modified-

In hindsight, I didn't realize I'd have to remove the sissy bar, I would have got the one with the wrap around armrests. Could always put this one on my Dynaglide and get that one, for the price.
 
Those look really nice and the price is surprisingly low ... how is the quality? The site doesn't show inside, what is the inside of the trunk like?
 
Decent, but not top notch, if you know what I mean. Case looks strong, but there is only a single cable stay to hold it open on the right, as opposed to double hinge types on both sides. Paint /finish is decent, they come in black or white only. Weak part is the backrest, it's vinyl, not leather, thin vinyl at that. And the 'padding feels like hard styrofoam, pretty rigid, no give, but if the wifey isn't comfortable, it's attached by screws from inside, pretty sure I could pad it and reattach vinyl Very thin pad included for bottom. Not equal to a Givi or similar, but probably 1/3 the price...

Edit: Actually, the Givi are a lot more reasonably priced than I would have guessed.

It's not listed specific to any bike make or model, so the mounting brackets and hardware are scrap metal to me, IDK what the odds are of lining up with any attachment points on other bikes, nothing close on the R3T.

Oh, and it locks, 2 keys included Forgot to take pics of the luggage rack, chrome looks good, but you have to drill 4 holes and install yourself.
