Edit ............

I just downloaded the owner handbook (2016 model though) -

http://images.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk/media-library/files/central marketing team/owners-manuals/v series/vg2_ohb_3851509-us.pdf

which confirms there is an immobilizer system.

Wrong on this count too - I wish Triumph was consistent in where they put things with regard the fiche!
I now see the Immobilizer Module under the Electrical Equipment page - on the 800's and Street Triples it is directly under the lockset page.
But IS the same type of system
i.e. the key-switch antenna sends signal to the Immobilizer module which in turn communicates by CANBUS to the ECU to enable/disable from running.

Sorry for bad information previously - it definitely DOES have ECU Immobilizer system.

Fletch, that wouldn't be Noel????

Nah, but his best mate is a 'Noel', but he is not a 'Fletch'. ;):D

Fletch is actually Fletcher Christian, a direct descendent of Fletcher Christian of the 'Mutiny on the Bounty' fame. God know how many more carry the full name.

It seems I told you otherwise but checking again, I don't think the 1200 does have the chip immobilizer - only the 800's.
Awesome news, I had not been able to see any where it said it did, I but trust you as you know more about anything electrical Triumph than anyone I know

If I knew about it, I would have bought it, the headers were worth it alone.

Well maybe not alone but CES Headers and Staintune mufflers which from memory both looked pretty good, unmarked Corbin Dual Tourer heated seat and backrest, rear aftermarket shocks, diff and drive shaft and an unmarked engine.:thumbsdown:

Well I'm maybe not as smart as you're giving me credit for - see my edited post & I'l PM you

Whoops just did another search for specs and in 1 article the 2012 launch it says it has "Coded Key Immobiliser as Standard" this may be a journo typo

Very nice bike Hans! It looks small enough that when you come to the US next, you can bring your own bike by hiding it under your shirt.:whitstling::thumbsdown:
