GT / R Seat Comparison

Hey everyone, I’m 6'4" and currently ride an R with the stock seat. As dicussed here, I find the R seat a bit small and short for my size. Also, the pillion seat, which slightly overlaps the rider’s seat, tends to press into my lower back on longer rides, which gets uncomfortable. It’s also quite firm.

I’d love to hear from any taller riders (6'2"+) who have switched to the GT seat on their R. How does it feel in terms of comfort and riding position? Does the slightly lower seating position and extra room (GT seat moves you about 1 inch back and 1 inch lower) make a noticeable difference on longer rides? Keeping OEM handlebars and pegs.

The GT seat will likely be flatter. Won’t that cause the body to slide backward under acceleration?

I'll still have to try swapping it myself, but a few opinions always help :)

thx
As far as I'm aware the GT seat is the same shape but as it sits you lower, while you'll maybe have more arm reach to the bars you'll have less leg room to the pegs so your knees and hips will be more bent. That would be an issue for me and I'm only 6' tall. I have a GT and I also found the pillion pad intrusive at first but I seem to have got used to it now as I no longer notice it. But it does feel very sculpted with no wriggle room. You sit where it puts you.

I believe - though I haven't tried one - that the Corbin sits you higher than the stock GT seat and is longer so you have more room in every direction.
Before you pull the pin on a GT seat I'd get to a dealer who's got a GT in the showroom and ask if you can swap the seat over and just try it for size.

Just to share my experience. I recently tried the R seat on a Storm GT and immediately noticed that the R seat pushes you quite a bit forward. For some riders, maybe this could be an alternative to adding handlebar risers on the GT. I just had a short ride, but my impression was that the R seat is a little less comfy. Probably should go on a much longer ride to determine that. I didn't notice the one inch (?) height difference between the seats, but that could be because it was only a short ride, plus I could easily flatfoot with both seats.

I wanted to see how big the difference really is so I cropped two "from above" images to fit my screen. If you download these and switch between them in full screen mode it's easy to see how they differ in both size and fit.
