Had a good ride down to Kentucky and back, except for this. Hit a big piece of metal in the road. Middle of the lane, couldn't see it until the car ahead passed over it, then it was too late. Bent the bar the floorboard mounts to, broke it loose in the rear, and knocked it into the exhaust. Put a sizable hole in the pipe. Even took a chunk off the crankcase. Looks like I'll need a new exhaust system, love to find some used jars or preds.

Thats not good but at least you didn't wreck. I hate when you see people with all kinds of junk in the back of pickups and its just waiting to fall out.

WOW!!!!! Fing dumb arses letting crap fly out and not pick it up......somebody knows it fell out....at any rate i try really hard to stay a couple lengths away from the car/truck in front of me for this reason but find that Im not very good about it.......then a pothole sneaks up and jars the spine and reminds me I cant react that quick anymore! lol\Glad your ok....godd luck with the repairs ;)

Glad you're OK. Would've been so much worse.

This is one of the main reasons I don't ride at night anymore (unless I really, really gotta).

Nothing wakes you up quicker than meeting a (dead) mule deer close up at 3 in the morning at 65MPH.

and maintain separation to spare... been there....

Glad your OK Izzo :)

You give good advice Sir I learned the same a year back following a vehicle at night it stradled a dead Roo and by the time I saw it in my dipped headlight 2up 110 kph had to run over it... We where lucky the bones didn't stake our tyres..
Now I either overtake or stay well back at night after that experience :(
