I thought I was smelling gasoline around the filler cap chrome ring and took off the filler cap assembly with the 6 bolts. There was no gasket. Is there supposed to be one? Is it supposed to be glued on? Where does the pressure in the tank blow off? Is the filler cap assembly supposed to be air tight?

Does anyone else smell gas around the filler cap assembly chrome ring?

There is no gasket
Did you just fill up?
Only 3 of the bolts hold the cap on the other 3 are just for show.
I don't think the tank is air tight.
No, it's not glued on.

There are two vents on the left side under the tank. These are the same hoses you see coming out under the bike in front of the rear tire connect to them. I would prop the tank and make sure they are connected and not kinked.

These seem to be OK. The filler ring is metal on metal. Why don't they put a **** gasket in there?

Sounds like it's time to make a gasket from a neoprene sheet. I do want to know why you were smelling around the gastank filler. I've never had the ocassion to get my nose down there.

'Cause I smelled gas and it's like right in front of me. I can actually bend at the waist. I will look into the gasket making.

:kk:Flipper is getting on in years, you have to give him that:DThis summer I've noticed the fumes more often than in the past. I suppose I'm getting more sensitive in my likewise, nearly as, mature years.
If anyone is having issues with bending at the waist it would be me. I hadnt thought of a possible fuel cap ventting issue. Id thought it was rising fumes from the vent tubes, when at a STOP sign or signal.

Hey Flipper, hows the no smoking effort proceeding? It has been 7 months, cold turkey, hasnt it? How you been going so long without slippy back down that road...eating homemade saurkraut:bch:
Whats in the latest Flipmeister Specialty Products? A set of custom poly mud guard skirts? Or is high dollar leather skirts? I sure wish an ingenious enterprize would produce a skirt, and Ive been saying so for quite some time. Now the R3T has come into the picture. I'd sure like to retain the darkside grunt but with a FBG feminine side.

I've noticed it this summer too, but it's been alot hotter this summer than the past couple of summers. I figured it was from the vent tubes as well, since my bike is sitting out in a parking lot at 100+ degrees, probably closer to 120 sitting on black top.

Shoot, I'm suprised my tires aren't melting to the pavement as hot as it's been lately! I haven't wanted to ride to work very often, but I'm addicted to motorcycles, so I have to ride some times.. ;)

El Nino is ruling the pattern and will persist. There is a controlled relationship to "global warming". "Global Warming" is a lie! Environmentalism is the God head, Tal Brooke spoke of in his book, One World.

There have been over the decades specific and several, International Laws prohibiting global weather manipulation. Why do you imagine that is?

Texas and the southwest, west of center, would have a increasingly hotter summer under an El Nino; and the ridge would extend far northward during the extended period, promoting more storms across the eastern US.

By manipulating the steering flow you know can the outcome...and realize greater profits.
