Full throttle hiccup?

Was thinking possible clutch problem but that would be more likely to show up at lower speeds where it is under the most load.

Didn't get a pic before it was dark, but front exhaust manifold nut is missing, although I hear no obvious leak, does anyone think there is any chance it could be sucking air back enough to cause a misfire/backfire? (but no audible backfire) It's going in for tires, inspection, and oil change next week, my buddy is going to check out coils and electrical connections.

I would say no. There should be no sucking of air from the exhaust manifold. Missing bolt could cause an exhaust leak noise but all of that air is going out, not coming in. Intake manifold yes, exhaust no. IMO

That was my thought, Hanso, the scavenging effect makes me believe it could draw at one port at any one time.

Well, I'm stumped. I had my bike in for tires and service, my buddy the mechanic and the shop owner both rode it and were able to reproduce it. They both said it seemed to be the transmission, but when pressed on how something like that could slip, then catch again, shrugged and had no answers. Leaving Wednesday for RAA, sure hope there isn't a serious problem, but I'll be taking it easy. I had a missing header nut, and all were a little loose, but correcting that had no effect.

Well, I talked to my mechanics when I picked up the bike, they think a weak detente spring might be the culprit, based on known issues. I will be replacing/modifying it when I get home, I'll just have to take it easy on my trip.

If it were the detent spring it would kick out of gear. Did you look to make sure all three throttle bodies were seated and clamped good. Maybe when you roll her on one leaks a wee bit.

Man, IDK, now I'm nervous, it did it a few times at much lower rpms and throttle today, with the wife on, and coming around a corner kicked out of gear for the first time, into true neutral. If it goes on my trip, is the bike rideable at highway speeds? ****, this sucks, my dealer isn't open Monday, and they basically stock nothing anyway.

It really does seem to be some kind of slip, in the drive train, it's really hard to describe, but it doesn't seem like the motor misses a beat, both mechanics that rode it said the same thing, the motor and tuning itself seems 100%, dead on. When I try to make it happen, it doesn't, so I can't seem to catch it on the tach.
