Full Face Helmets

+1 on the noise suppresion with my Chatterbox with the open face boom kit. Travelling at 110kph,no one knows I am on a bike!

These cheap helmets wouldnt have the ultimate safety rating of SNELL... Personally, I like all the help i can get to stop my brain getting any more damaged than it already is!

I've run a Scala Rider Q2 (similar to the Chatterbox model of yours) in both of my Scorpion helmets, a fiberglass full-face EXO 700 and a plastic modular EXO 900 Transformer. There is a nice ear well where you can velcro the speakers into and route the wiring between the padding. Nice and clean install. If your mic is on a wire as opposed to a boom, there is a nice spot on the chin bar top where you can mount it. It's a little air dam for your nose and the mic fits right up there. The EXO 700 is a great full-face. Very comfortable. You can get some really good deals on Scorpion Helmets at www.sportbiketrackgear.com. I bought my EXO 700 as a closeout (paint style change) a few years ago for something like $89. They have some now for $79.

I checked out these helmets based based on your post ... Just ordered the Scorpion EXO-1000 Helmet, which is a modular. I've been wearing a 3/4, but it has a lot of buffeting and noise at speed, so hopefully the full face modular will prove to be quiet.

just making sure...the EXO 1000 is NOT a modular. It is a full face.

The EXO 900 Transformer is the modular. You might want to confirm.

Uh oh!?!?!

I had indeed better check.

Hey tdragger:

Thank you SO MUCH for your PM and the heads up post! I did indeed screw this up. I started by looking at the 900 modular, and somehow ended up transitioning to looking at the 1000 full face, never realizing that it wasn't a modular.

Anyway, Motorcycle superstore was cool about it. I called them and they canceled the order without any cost to me. So now I can just order the right one. Phew! I would have been seriously disappointed when the full face showed up.

Ok, off to order the correct helmet!

IMO, this is the best fullface lid on the market today, pound-for-pound, feature-for-feature and dollar-for dollar: http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motorcycle-helmet/bell-star/helmet-review/ In the past, I've ben a devout Arai guy, but this is a better helmet in nearly all respects.

If you read the section about it's fitment features, you'll see that it has purposeful ear padding that was specifically designed to accommodate speakers.

Occasionally this outfit has blowout prices on some of the Bell Star series of helmets. I got my first one for $199... http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/search/bell_star_helmets
