fuel economy gone??? Help!

+1
fuel filter/bad fuel pump or plugged exhaust cat converter
best way to check is when it is acting up is get to second gear and open it up if it runs out of gas it is pump or filter if it goes up to (example) 4000 rpm and acts like u hit a 150 mph wind it is plugged exhaust.

Mine started feeling sluggish and I was burning way more fuel. It was a sticky rear caliper, my rear brake was partially on all the time. It didn't squeal or get red hot. I stuck my knife between the rotor and pad and separated them a bit. I went for a ride without touching the rear brake again and my power was back up and so was my fuel economy. So for now I don't use it unless I have to, then I just pry the pads back again. I am getting the valves set, new plugs, new exhaust and dyno done this winter so I guess I'll add a rear caliper rebuild. I took the plates off my Rocket now anyway, I am just riding my KLR until the snow falls.

I've not heard of a brake dragging like that and not heating up the rotor or drum for that matter. I think you're lucky.

I wonder if you have the same rear brake line issue @Paul Bryant had.

I don't know, I haven't really tied into it yet. I just backed the pads off for the few trips I've made and now it's parked for winter. To be honest, I used to be notorious for not using my rear brake. It gets used now, but I just assumed the caliper would be corroded or gummed up from not using it regularly.
