Front tyre choices

Ahoy Capt'n. If you have A
I know a lot of you have found good results using the Avon Cobra front tyre in conjunction with the Excedra Max rear, however has anyone got results for the use of the Excedra front tyre as well? I'm looking to change both tyres in the next month or two & any advice is welcome.
SEARCH AROUND and see if you can find an AVON AZARO 140/80ZR17.
It's really a rear tyre but it was made for a 3.5" rim and is STUNNINGLY good. Steers better than Cobra or ME880.
Just mount it back to front. Avon seem to have ceased manufacture - but others have found them stocked.

Oh there are loads of 140/80R17's Art - just all V rated. We can still find the Z rated Metz 140/75 too - though that too is out of production.

I am not stocking an Azaro spare as a tyre has a limited shelf life. And the Azaro is wearing very very well.

I'm storing one now for a couple months. Need at least one or more front every year anyway.
That "shelf life" is like 6 to 8 years from the manufacture date on the tire according to what the tire experts tell me.

Avon Cobra has kicked azz for me , over 15000klm so far and easy another 5000 to go

Thanks guys, I've decided to replace the rear with the max & test it out with my existing cobra front. If all goes well I'll replace the cobra like for like. I thought that Bridgestone had brought out a max for the front but it's just my confusion from a dealers advertising.

Real world pre-fitment shelf life is closer to 2 or 3 years - especially if you NEED it to perform well once fitted. Also depends how it's stored.

Against all "expert" advice and predictions of pending disaster(except from my tyre guy) I have run an Exedra Max Bias belted front and a Avon Cobra rear on my R3T ,the front has 6000k on it and looks to be wearing evenly and looks good for another 10000k at least , the Cobra rear 8000k and still has I calculate 4000k left in it ,I do not ride at over 160kph(self imposed limit) so the speed rating is not an issue ,and for my purposes the front feels and handles just fine , I will fit a Cobra on the front next time just to satisfy my curiosity
compared to the rock hard Sh****y tyres that we used to run this combination is more than adequate,
