2006 Rocket III
I am picking up a rocket soon and find the standard forward foot pegs and controls very strange feeling as I am used to riding sportsbikes. Looking at pictures of the more recent models they seem to have the pegs mounted quite a bit further back. Does anyone know if this is a straightforward bolt on conversion with the appropriate parts for the older rockets or is there more effort and fabrication involved than that.

As best I know, late model pegs do not interchange with early model pegs....totally different way of mounting. But Trust me, you will get used to the new position especially when you see you can ride from Brighton to Birmingham with hardly any stress. You'd be done in a hour or two all folded up on a sportbike. There may be a third party kit available but I don't know who it would have it. I ride a Touring model and that is really forward! It's all I've ever known besides midsets, which is what the Regular Rocket really does have IMO. You just think they're forward because they aren't way back.

The Roadster pegs are about 5 inches back and 1.5" lower than the original standard 2005 and up Rocket lll. I'm modifying a set of rails and controls towards the Roadster configuration. The newer bikes have anti-lock brakes, but I'm not sure why a more recent set-up couldn't be made to work.

There is a guy in the UK with a set of nearly complete rear sets for sale to UK only. He wasn't satisfied with the position after doing most of the work - so they are unfinished. Look him up.

There are more people wanting to change their (Roadster) pegs to floor boards rather than (Classic) floor boards to pegs. Up to 2010 the rockets had either a peg that was mounted frontward or floor boards. I don't know which is which by name.

If you post in the wanted section that you would like to swap with someone then you might luck up. It can be done.

@rocketjohn is talking about the "touring" model as not much is interchangeable. The pegs for standards and classics are pretty much interchangeable you could even make a Roadster foot rail fit with the right I linkages and a slight brake line modification.
It's all been done before.

Excellent, I think im getting a bit ahead of myself though, will try it out for a while with the original footpeg position and see how I get on. Thats good to know its fairly straightforward if I do need to change them. Thanks
