Are you currently riding an FJR? I've got a Super Tenere and I believe they share the same type of internals and computer equipment, even the same dash.. This is my first bike with the full electronics suite. The first time I ever rode a bike with Fly by wire throttle was a Triumph Tiger Explorer. Its throttle was very light to the touch, and extremely responsive. It practically changed my life. Such a smooth throttle feel, with incredibly smooth and well though out fueling.

I do agree with your points, especially the point about multiple fuel maps. As I am sure you have as well, the T and S mode on the Yamahas' are fantastic, just a single button press (instead of going through menus' and 5 different modes who the hell knows what the differences are) the T mode is soft, smooth and very forgiving on the throttle especially in inclement weather and high traffic areas, parking lots... But when you set it to "S" mode the bike becomes an entirely different beast, the front end lifts up with the tiniest amount of gas so better watch out!

This is the type of things I've always wanted in the rocket after owning one for a few years... The roads in my town are in very bad condition with Sand, dirt, oil.. having traction control would of made me feel a lot more comfortable, the Rocket 3's second gear was extremely snatchy for me and always irked me when I was trying to go around a 90 degree turn with as little throttle as possible. Having a "T" mode would of been wonderful for commuting.

Please dont get me wrong, I absolutely loved my rocket and babied the thing and took great care of it... But it really is time for all manufacturers to get on board and get these amazing new features on all the bikes, cruise control and traction control are just amazing. For me personally I got the ES version of the Yamaha which gave me electronic suspension adjustment.. Are you riding alone, or 2 up? With or with out bags? Press one button and it adjusts the front and bake springs to the perfect settings. Just wonderful!!

I have a '11 R3T and a '14 FJR1300A. So, no electronics for the suspension.
I've never lifted the Yammy front wheel even when launching pretty hard. I thought the S mode on FJR was a little twitchy when I first got the bike. I know some people unwind the throttle spring a little to make it looser; so maybe it wasn't the map. I just got used to it though so now my input plenty smooth.

My wife has ridden the FJR a few times but greatly prefers my Rocket...
I keep the bags on at all times, convenience is key and there's not much benefit to riding without em.

I love the benefits that come with all the electronics and will chose that every time. But, I do get the appeal of a machine you can work on. The transmission on my wifes GMC started shifting later in the RPM range recently and there is really nothing a home mechanic can do with that thing. Not even check the fluid.

Worked every time for me too...till I hit a wet trench plate with a torque monster.:(

Not seeing the plate WAS my fault; but **** the Rocket can go sideways fast on slick surfaces.
Anyway, I like TCS on the FJR but it's not really necessary, with a little care it's easy manage the power. The torque of the Rocket can make a small spin go wide REAL fast. 1st hand knowledge here.:banghead:
