First few hundred miles

A horn will go where the stock horn is. All you need is a piece of hose to run to the rear of the horn for the air intake. I have had mine mounted for nearly 3 years now without any issues. You will need to put in a relay to make it work properly. They say they should be mounted vertically but I have had no issues with it mounted horizontal. If it quits it is cheap enough to get another to replace it with. It even uses the same mounting bracket as the stock one.

OK, Bob R,
I pulled the trigger on a chrome Stebel Nautilis!
Now where would be the best mount location on a Roadster?

Unless you have a California bike there is room under the left side cover for the Stebel or Harbor Freight copy.

Just saw your post. Thanks!
I shall check your suggested location out!

You can also split the horn and run a hose from the compressor to the horn. I am going to remove all of the emission stuff (canister) from the left side and see what I can do with the space that is freed up.

A great idea!
Shall fool with it when the Stebel arrives.

Here's a picture of horn under left side cover. There is even a tab you can use to mount it.

I bought a Stebel horn and split it so that the compressor sits under the left side cover and then I ran a hose from there under the tank toward the front and replaced the stock horn in the same place. It's a tight fit but it works. I think having the horn on the front makes for the maximum impact as it's not blocked by a cover and is directional.

Re the Stebel Nautilus horn, are they a compact twin tone air horn? I've been looking on UK ebay and most of them on there are 24v and many are from Australia. Some include a relay which I'm sure you'll need and some don't mention it. Does anyone know where you can get them in the UK. Are they simple to wire and will they fit a Roadster?

@Blackthou:

They actually have several types of horn. One is definitely a twin-tone blend, there is also a 300hz "truck" air-horn that also comes in a compact package.

This is one of the compact two-tone horns:

This is the 300hz "truck" horn:

They also have split options where the compressor can be located in one spot and a tube run to the horn element.

From the number of folks that have them and the various places people have mounted them (couple in this thread) I can only imagine you'd be able to mount it on a roadster.

In terms of where to get em in the UK, I'll have to let someone else field that one ;)
