all that we found when tearing the tranny apart was a badly scored bushing ( I posted a pix of that bushing a while ago) I cannot recall where exactly within the tranny that bushing was located but everything else according to the tech was fine he changed 5th gear and fourth as well as the shifting fork between the two just in case since all parts were laying on the workbench anyway. and yesterday I rode the bike in a situation where the slap would occur and happily nothing "slapped" chapter closed I hope

Glad it worked well. Check your clutch adjustment. It has to be accurately within tollerance or it will create problems. One of the warning signs that it may be out is difficulty getting into or out of 1st when not moving.

I did look it up in the manual and set it at 2.5 mm
