Faulty Gas gauge?

An OEM Triumph filter is expensive, like over $50 last time I priced one. You can get alternate ones from any auto parts store from about $5-20. Get a good one and replace it every 20-30 thousand miles.

Hey thanks for the feedback. I haven't looked at my manual but I'd appreciate your giving me a short and sweet description of what is involved with a filter change.......is it like a Harley touring bike where the filter is buried inside the tank and is a nightmare to change out?

My fuel light use to come on after 110ks or 70 miles.

So just used trip meter. I can get 350kms say 215 miles before refueling.

Had a new fuel filter fitted at stealer ship two months ago and now fuel light on all the time. (must put black tape over it).

Trip meter is the knob on the side of the speedo.

Twist the knob and trip 1 will show twist again and trip 2 shows.

To reset to zero twist and hold and it resets to zero. I never have the amount of kms the beast has done showing always the miles I have traveled since fueling up.

Your sender unit has gone -it happens to the older ones - i Had one go too, light always on and slightly flickering - changed sender and all good.

i do that.
if yours is not modded to much it should do 200 miles. but best to have the pump covered to keep cool

One day I ran my Rocket down to fumes and after that the fuel guage never worked. I use the odometer for now until my lazy @ss installs the fuel bot thats been sitting forever!

So, went on a 125-150 mile ride today on my new to me 2006 Rocket Classic. Topped off the tank right up to the brim before heading out with friends to Campo, California. Gauge on bars showed full tank. Approximately 120-130 miles later on my way home I was startled to see the gauge about one red mark away from empty. My first thought was....this bike gets terrible mileage! I immediately pulled over to the far right lane and prayed for a gas station which turned out to be next door to the Miramar Marine Corps Air Station in San Diego. Again, I filled the tank right up to the brim.....3.25 gallons.

Where do I begin to fix this problem? Gauge shows empty or nearly so and it still has 3 gallons in the tank.

I'd never rely on the fuel gauge.
You're getting way better mileage than I!
Now that you know your mileage, stick to your trip odo.

About keeping the pump cool thing. When I was building my "Low Rider" hard tail, I didn't have a stock tank, so I was playing with trying to make the stock pump work "outside" the tank. It has a small weep hole on the side, that squirts fuel out when running. It took me awhile to figure that it must be like that, as a way to cool the pump, It is a little bastard, about the size of a car windshield washer pump! Others have claimed that the reason the low fuel light seems to come on too early, is that Triumph doesn't want you to run the fuel level below the pump. Again, a cooling issue.

Others have used the Wix #33032 which Amazon sells for $5.63 delivered. Donor said.... The mechanic charged an hour of labor. I also had him clean the fuel pumpstrainer (part# T1240330) and the fuel pump baffle (part# T2401843).

The stock filter is actually a Mahle KL-145 painted with Triumph on it.

Must be tough keeping gasoline in that tank...plus, why would you need a gage anyway with that kind of view?
