I have an exhaust leak at the manifold to the cat eliminator, bought new gasket but try as I might it still leaks, I tightened the clamp so tight that I broke the darn bolt, luckly I had a spare,,,, any sugestions:mad:

Get some exhaust paste from your local auto supplier and cover the gasket in that and bolt it all together again.

Another thing to check is to make sure the clamps are not slid back so far that the y do not close the pipe in the slotted area. keep them close to the end of the pipe/cat delete so the close the pipe.

Never found an exhaust paste that worked( they all dry out & disintegrate with the heat. I had that leak problem with the cat delete on my old exhaust set up, & solved it by buying a couple of exhaust clamps & making a large shim, from a used tin can.

I installed a 2" muffler clamp along with the original clamp and I think this combo may do it,, however I still get decell pop under 2000rpm. the dealer told me previosly that the pop was due to the exhaust leak... go figure:?

Ask him why ?
I dont have an exhaust leak and get popping this never happened with stock exhaust and cat actually I think the bike was probably just as fast with all standard
I only replaced exhaust because it was starting to rust and cat box was cracked I dont think I would change anything if I had a new bike again unless of course it was to put a silverback kit in.

I think I would buy some new gaskets and some correct size stainless toggle clamps and have another go the exhaust paste is a good
short term fix but job is best done right

also being Scottish the fosters can is probably cheaper and more readily available than gaskets so I might try that first good hardware store will have toggle clamps
