Excessive Wear?

2008 Triumph Rocket III Custom Classic
My 2008 R3 Custom Classic experienced a rider-free dive onto the asphalt about 4 years ago.

The repair shop that took 4 months and over 10K to do the repairs showed many reasons during the process for why they went bankrupt not long after they finished my bike. That being said, when the bike was repaired I got a new rear tire, and it had about 2K miles on it - I know it was not showing any signs of wear at the time, but now I have to replace - for the second time since the accident - the rear tire. Which means that each tire only lasted about 2500 miles before getting to the threads. What bothers me most is that both times the wear was in the general area of 2-3 inches to the left of centerline. I am thinking that since I do not race on NASCAR race tracks (I don't race at all, nor do burn-outs) that the repair shop left the frame straightening to the same idiot who forgot to tighten the handlebars adequately.

Anyone have any thoughts on the subject? Also, since I am replacing the tire, does anyone have any recommendations for a new brand? I rarely get caught in the rain, and do not drive overly aggressively.

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

That mileage out of a Metzler (if that's what you have) is a little on the low side but not unusual if you like to accelerate hard, even without burn outs. Best I got out of one was 4800 km.
It's also not unusual for tyres in your part of the world to wear more on the left hand side - down here, it's on the right - due to the camber and cornering (you travel further during left hand turns than right hand turns). Must say though, that I've not seen exposed cords that far off centre, so it does sound like something's not right.

Get a Bridgestone Exedra Max on the back. It's higher profile than either Metz or Avon, which are the only other options you have, but better all round. I'd be getting that weird tracking looked out first though.

just a thought.
you might have some one follow you to see what the bike is doing. and check out both sides.
my 1st metz lasted 6000 my 2nd lasted 7000 but i always waited till 2nd gear to get on it.

I would investigate having the frame measured up. If the bike was repaired under insurance even if the repairer has gone broke, your insurance company would/shkukd still be responsible for the repairs carried out- especially if they recommend or approved that repairer- thats how it works in OZ.

Thanks all! Since I'm here and the subject has been broached... recommendations for front tire?? It has to be replaced in about another 1000 km

Interesting wear pattern..., you can see the narrow strip on the left

Wow that pretty extreme even for a MetzSh!ter all the above comments are very valid especially about getting your frame checked
