2017 Polaris Slingshot
On Saturday, July 2nd, I rode my R3T for the last time to the local Indian/BMW/Moto Guzzi dealership so that it can be sold while I am at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL for evaluation for a liver and/or kidney transplant. The evaluation will be for a two week period, let me make clear that, at this time, I feel pretty good and this procedure is not in the immediate future but it will, if accepted, get me on the list for any liver and/or kidney that comes available should I need a transplant.

Because of my less than normal upper body strength I have had to give up riding motorcycles as I may not be able to "manhandle" the beast when slowing down and coming to a stop and the ensuing possible loss of confidence in my riding skills and abilities. I do not want to be a hazard on the road because of this.

If the bike sells or is eventually traded in I will be able to get the Slingshot ride I have been aiming for since it will give me a more stable ride and will be the next step in my move to this type of adventure riding/driving.

I will continue to monitor this forum as there are so many great guys and gals here that have been an encouragement and have given me lots of advice while I rode the Triumph line of a R3 Classic, Thunderbird and the R3T.

Thanks for the many great memories.

Dennis

Dennis sorry to hear about your health issues , I applaud your decision to stop riding(just now) to many riders keep going when they are a safety hazard not just to themselves but to other road users.
The Slingshot is a fun ride but also look at the Can-Am they have some good looking three wheeler s and they can move.
i am only a couple of hours away from you Dennis so if you need any help with the bike or anything else give me a call.

It would cost some coin, but at least two trike makers, Moto-Trike, and Hannigan can convert Rockets both regular and touring models to trike, if you would like to explore that route. I think that is what I will look forward to, for this may be the last two wheeler I will ride, though I plan to give it a lot more years before I convert it.

Tilting Motor Works in Snohomish, WA, has a front trike kit for Harleys and Goldwings which allows you to have the same leaning motorcycle experience (as opposed to a non-leaning traditional trike) but with 3 wheel stability and self-righting suspension. You should check them out. Maybe give them a call and see if they want to develop a kit for the Rocket and send yours over!

For those not familiar with the Slingshot here is a picture, you would look good in one Dennis in fact nearly as good as the old guy we met on our way to RAA2 many years ago (remember the old guy at the truck stop)
