ok, electrical drives me nutz. but, this is the scenerio.

have a signal minder installed...never worked right all the time..but most of the time signal cancel and running lights did work. The four way flasher etc. never worked.

put in the aux. power socket this pm. alot of wires with blue tape, but, after finding the correct one with the only female plug that would fit. fought a bit with the wiring to get it out of the loom far enough to connect to the socket....but.. did and put all back together. Power socket works with key on or off.

now, the question......checking things out.....turn key on....everything works ok turn signals etc.....start the bike.....hit starter 2-3 times....nothing....key on/off a couple of times...hit starter....fired up....now.....noticed that I had four way flashers going. tried various ways to cancel...nada...turned off....turned key on...no flashers. running lights on and signals work correctly and self cancelled...started bike again..started right up..but...four way flashers going.

The oem turn signal box is home somewhere and will try to find it when I go home this weekend....maybe just removing the signal minder will do the deal...maybe I wiggled some other connection when freeing the wire for the aux power socket, but, the shop manual is also at home,
so don't know what connectors are there.

work away from home mon-fri and trying to figure this out in the apartment parking lot. It's getting dark and a bit cold.....Time for a beer and a post to those in the know for any....repeat any...ideas.

thanks, I'll try the cancellation.
the weird thing is that the 4-way flash only occurs when the bike is running. if the key is turned on the is no flasher only the running lights.
But, maybe I'll just leave it like this. Actually had a couple of cars move out of the passing lane and let me by this am.

You may have intermittent connections on the knife connectors. I installed the SM3 and had problems until I eliminated the knife connectors. I think the Rocket wire insulation is too tough for a reliable connection. Once I peeled back a little insulation and soldered the connections...all is well.

hombre,
cancellation didn't work. Might just be coincidence that this occurred after I installed the aux power socket, but, I think it's the signal minder itself.

Turn the key on and the running lights, turn signals work. The 4 way flashers have never worked at all. But, start the bike and the 4 ways start but won't cancel. Disconnect the plug in for the running lights and the flashing stops, however, no self concellation. So, unless there is some kind of cross talk via the aux power socket, I figure it's the signal minder.

Could take out the aux power socket and see if the signal minder functions then work, but, I think I would rather have the aux power over the running lights and the other funtions of the signal minder never worked before anyway.

The dealer at home told me they stopped dealing with signal minder as support and the product basically sucked.

anything else out there that does the same thing for a reasonable price?

The running lights worked...self cancel settings worked, but, the flasher option never worked. Also, the directions indicate the turn signal indicator would be dim and on all the time...that never happened either.

I put the oem flasher unit back in and will do it the old way until it warms up outside and I need something to fool with.
